I turned on the news and I saw the announcement of the death of Farrah Fawcett. Ed McMahon had just died a couple of days ago and I wondered about that old urban legend that celebrity deaths come in threes. Who would be next?
I was pondering about who was really old or had some deadly disease. I was totally shocked when the breaking news from Fox showed that Michael Jackson was picked up at his home by a fire department truck because he stopped breathing and possibly had a heart attack. I could only pray for him; no other words came to mind.
A while later the announcement from the hospital was that Michael was in a coma. The final blow came when his death was announced. Michael was way too young to die.
Being a musician, I can say that Michael Jackson was one of, if not the greatest of musicians and performers the music industry has know. His contribution to the music arts, from performances to music videos is just about unfathomable. It is hard to wrap one’s mind around all of the contributions this man has made. His spirit in music will live with us forever.
Let’s pray for his children.
