A group of women are up in arms, or should I say, up in shirts. Yes, the breast-feeding cult is on the move again, this time to stick it in your face, so to speak.
A while ago, Facebook removed a picture of a mom breast feeding her kid. Heather Farley, of Palo Alto, CA says she just wants to share pictures of her kid with other parents, and says “it’s almost hard to get a picture of me not nursing.” She would have had to make that comment breast-in-cheek, as there are plenty of times that you could take a picture of a 9-month old when they are not eating or sleeping. Besides, you can’t see the child’s face; just the back of its head and just about all kids look the same in that view.
Now, if she just wants to proudly show off her breasts, I am sure there are many of web sites that would be more than glad to display her fullness on their pages.
The breast-feeders poke at us from time to time by wanting to bare their breasts in court rooms, classrooms, airplanes and assorted other public places. But, in today’s diverse culture, I just have to look and see what other groups are being discriminated by Facebook.
How about the moms that don’t like teeth marks of gum marks on their breasts and use a breast pump to gather the milk for their babies? We should allow them to display their hard work gathering food for their children to the entire world.
Besides, the website is not called Breastbook.
