Coal-burning technology is really fantastic today. Gone are the black sooty smokestacks and the carbon-black (real carbon) residue covering buildings and yes, even whole towns. There even exists today ways to recover the carbon dioxide, which is a fertilizer and not a greenhouse gas or pollutant.
Even with all these features, the environfreaks, er, environmentally-challenged are demanding no coal-burning plants be built to provide us with electricity. Every time a new plant gets proposed, the environmentally-challenged are there marching and blocking traffic, demanding that we stop destroying the earth.
Why are these same people not protesting China for building around 1,000 coal-burning plants a week? I guess they are only out to destroy the US economy, not China’s. No wonder the Kyoto Protocol made the world’s worst polluters exempt from following the restrictions.
Got something to say?
